Title of Position: Lecturer

The University of Rhode Island's Department of Kinesiology invites applications for a full-time one year renewable lecturer in exercise science, kinesiology, or related field. The Department of Kinesiology, which has had tremendous growth in undergraduate enrollment, offers undergraduate studies in Exercise Science, Health Fitness, and Physical Education Teacher Education. The position is limited to 09' - 10' academic year with possible extension.

BASIC FUNCTION:

Teach undergraduate courses in exercise science, kinesiology, and health, and mentor/advise undergraduate students. Potential courses include Introduction to Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Foundations of Health, Exercise Testing and Prescription, Measurement and Evaluation in Kinesiology and Prevention and Care of Athletic Injuries. Assist with placement and oversight of student interns.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required: A minimum of a Master's degree from an accredited university or college in Exercise Science, Kinesiology or related field; demonstrated commitment to professional development activities; excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills; ability to deal with diverse population. Preferred: University teaching experience; proficient implementation of technology in teaching; certification by the American College of Sports Medicine or the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
