                        Position Description

 

TITLE:            Assistant Coach, Men's Soccer

 

DIVISION:         Student Development (Athletics)

 

REPORTS TO:       Head Men’s Soccer Coach

 

GRADE:            Not applicable

 

SUPERVISES:       Not applicable

 

BASIC FUNCTION:

 

Assist with the organization and administration of the men’s soccer program, including the following: recruiting, practice and game coaching and management, conditioning, and public and alumni relations.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Assist in the development and oversight of the program's fundraising budget.

 

Coordinate with the Head Coach all recruiting, practice sessions, training, and conditioning for the program's student-athletes; assist in scheduling, travel, equipment, and alumni events.

 

Support the University's academic goals; assist in the oversight of the academic and athletic development of student-athletes.

 

Adhere to all NCAA, University, and Atlantic 10 Conference rules and regulations.

 

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Conduct fund-raising activities and participate in public relations events and clinics.

 

Perform other duties as required.

NCAA Rules Certification Certificate

 

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

 

This position is subject to both inside and outside work; extreme cold and hot temperatures can be encountered.


 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Bachelor's degree required. The following are also required:  demonstration of effective coaching and recruiting of student athletes; commitment to the student-athletes academic progress and achievements; excellent organizational, administrative, communicative, and leadership skills; minimum of 3 years of successful coaching experience at the collegiate/club level.  Preference given to candidates possessing the following:  master's degree; USSF license and or NSCAA diploma; coaching experience at the Division I level; computer literacy in Microsoft Word, Excel, Filemaker Pro and PowerPoint; and competitive collegiate or professional playing experience.  Appointment subject to NCAA violation report clearance and NCAA rules Certification Certificate.
