Position Description

TITLE: Marine Research Assistant IV

DIVISION: Academic Affairs (Graduate School of Oceanography)

REPORTS TO: Principal Investigator and/or Marine Research Associate

GRADE: 7

SUPERVISES:

BASIC FUNCTION:

Perform routine and non-routine research work or tests on materials or specimens under minimum supervision.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Analyze samples.

Perform non-routine research work.

Handle and maintain highly technical instruments required for performance of experiments.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform other duties as requested.

LICENSES, TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT:

Personal computers, printers, word processing, database management and spreadsheet software.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

This position is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree plus five year's experience or Master's degree.
