May 23, 2002 announcement by Provost Swan.

I am pleased to announce that Wm. Lynn McKinney has been appointed Dean of the College of Human Science and Services beginning June 30, 2002. Dr. McKinney has been an effective visionary, leader, manager and advocate for the people and programs in the College and University during his tenure as Interim Dean. Lynn's values as an academic leader are sound, and his commitment to academic excellence is steadfast.

Dr. McKinney has always been a valuable contributor to the University of Rhode Island and an admired and respected member of the University community. He joined the University of Rhode Island in 1972 as an Assistant Professor of Education and currently holds the rank of Professor of Education. He has served as Assistant Dean, Interim Associate Dean and for the past five months as Interim Dean of the College of Human Science and Services. Dr. McKinney is currently the President of the National Organization of Human Service Education and has served as President of the Rhode Island Coalition Against Domestic Violence and Executive Director of Indianapolis Settlements.

We are delighted that Dr. McKinney has accepted this important position, and we look forward to his continued leadership of the College of Human Science and Services and throughout the state and region.
