Initiatives - RITTI

Over the last twelve years, RITTI has provided professional development in the field of educational technology to over 5,000 K-12 public school teachers and administrators. RITTI has collaborated with partners, including The Rhode Island Department of Education, The Rhode Island Foundation, and The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, to supplement this professional development with the resources and equipment needed to change instruction in classrooms.  RITTI has always viewed technology as a tool to help teachers and administrators improve instruction and aims to connect its programs with current school reform initiatives.  RITTI's recent programs have focused on Proficiency Based Graduation Requirements and have worked with over 1200 middle and high school teachers, representing twenty-six districts, to incorporate best practices in teaching, learning, and technology. RITTI further seeks to create teacher leaders within schools and thus selects teacher trainers to facilitate its professional development sessions.  Many RITTI trainers take the experience of working with teachers from other districts and become advocates for technology integration within their own schools.
