Special Endorsements

Overview:
English as a Second Language Endorsement is for teachers who hold current Rhode Island Teacher Certification in Elementary, Early Childhood, Secondary English or Foreign Language Education or are presently enrolled in a University of Rhode Island approved teacher education program for one of the certification areas listed above.
Requirements for ESL Endorsement:

Students interested in teacher certification in ESL or an endorsement to teach ESL in states other than Rhode Island should check with that state's department of teacher certification to ascertain the requirements. Only individuals holding a current Rhode Island teacher certification in early childhood, elementary, secondary English or foreign language are eligible for endorsement in ESL by completing RI state requirements.
