Portfolio Training Sessions

 

Admission Portfolio Training Sessions

Students applying to the School of Education for this upcoming academic year (2009) are strongly encouraged to attend one of the portfolio development sessions listed below.
 

Portfolio Training Dates (2008)

Tuesday, November 25 5-6pm Galanti Lounge, URI Library
Wednesday, December 3 3-4pm CCE Providence, Conference Rm. 242
Monday, December 8 5-6pm Galanti Lounge, URI Library

 


 

At these meetings, instructors will discuss how to build a successful portfolio; what elements must be included in your portfolio; and share examples and ideas from past applicants. Specific admission rubrics should also be carefully reviewed by applicants:  Elementary, Secondary

Submitting a portfolio is a requirement for admission of all teacher certification applicants into the School of Education. The following categories are evaluated in all portfolios:

 

I. Interpersonal/Communication Skills

   *       Overview statement -  required

   *       Other evidence (as required by specific programs)

 

II. Academic Knowledge Base

*       Official sealed transcripts (URI, other institutions) grad students

        only - required Unofficial transcripts for URI undergraduates.

*       Full copy of ETS Praxis I PPST, or ACT/SAT waiver

         scores - required

*       Other evidence (as required by specific programs)

 

III. Work Experience/Community Services

*      Letters of recommendation - required

*      Other evidence (as required by specific programs)

 

IV. Knowledge/Experiences Working in a Diverse Society

*      Description of experiences - required

*      Other evidence (as required by specific programs)
