Overview

This program for the preparation of science teachers at U.R.I. is accredited by NASDEC and NCATE. This program incorporates:

A minimum of thirty credits in an area of science (general science, biology, chemistry, or physics)
Thirty hours in Education, including methods and materials of teaching
A full semester of student teaching.

After completion of all course requirements, a B.S. degree is awarded by the college of Human Science and Services. With additional coursework, it is possible to earn a B.A. Degree in the College of Arts and Sciences. Application to the program is done during the Sophomore year through a review of an admissions portfolio.
