The National Council on Family Relations has approved the undergraduate academic program of Human Development & Family Studies for provisional certification of students. Undergraduate students may apply for a provisional certificate to become a Certified Family Life Educator (CFLE).
Provisional certification is available to those with a Baccalaureate degree and coursework in all ten family life content areas. URI's Human Development & Family Studies department has identified the pre-approved courses that qualify students for this provisional certification from NCFR. The checklist of pre-approved courses may be found on the NCFR web site under the University of Rhode Island.
Students who have graduated complete the checklist, and submit this checklist to the NCFR office along with: the Abbreviated Application Fee, Official URI transcript showing degree completion and course work, and the Abbreviated application fee for provisional certification.
HDF students may become members prior to graduation and have two options to become members prior to provisional certification and pay the member rate for the Abbreviated Application fee (student membership and two journals or student membership and one journal).
