The Dr.
Pat Feinstein Child Development Center opened its preschool program in
September, 1996 and opened its kindergarten program in September,
1998. The Dr. Pat Feinstein CDC is open year-round. Three options are
available which operate Monday through Friday and serve children ages
3 to 6.

Morning Preschool Program
7:45-12:30 (Ages 3 to 5) five days
Full Day Preschool Program
7:45-5:15 (Ages 3 to 5) five days
Full Day Kindergarten Program
9:00-3:00/7:45-5:15 (extended day)
Age 5 by 12/31 of enrollment year

The Program Staff
The Director of the Child Development Centers is an Professor of
Human Development and Family Studies who specializes in early
childhood education and child development.
The Coordinator of the Child Development Center is a professional
staff member in Human Development and Family Studies and has extensive
experience leading educational programs for young children. The
Coordinator also contributes to the learning experiences of the
university students by teaching early childhood education courses and
supervising practicum experiences at the Child Development Center.
The teaching staff of the Child Development Center includes
teachers who are certified in early childhood education by the State
of Rhode Island Department of Education. These teachers are required
to hold a bachelor's degree in early childhood education. Many
teachers pursue their master's degree and engage in other professional
development activities while at the Child Development Center,
highlighting their dedication to young children and their families.
Location
The Dr. Pat Feinstein Child Development Center is located on the
first floor of the Shepard Building at the URI Feinstein College of
Continuing Education in Providence. The CDC entrance is located along
Westminster Street.
Lillian Feinstein Scholarships
Alan Shawn Feinstein, a local philanthropist, provided an endowment
to fund scholarships for adult learners to attend the URI Feinstein
College of Continuing Education and for their children to attend the
Child Development Center preschool or kindergarten. Students
interested in applying for the scholarship can contact the Office of
Student Services at 277-5010.
Enrollment
The Child Development Center values diversity and is open to all
families regardless of race, creed, ethnic, or cultural background.
Application to enroll a child in the program can be made at any time,
however, there is a waiting list. Children on the waiting list are
enrolled in the program as openings occur.
