Below is an alphabetical listing of some of the Rhode Island Agencies. Students should conduct a web search for the most current information on agencies. Students are not limited to this list - as long as the site supervisor has a Bachelor’s Degree, the site and the supervisor would be acceptable.
A - C, D - H, I - R, S - ZThe YMCA is over 170 years old. We are the #1 after school child care provider in the US. Our branch serves over 250 children on a daily basis. "We build strong kids, strong families, strong communities." We are looking to recruit interns for the following positions: site directors, pre-school staff, child care floater, kindergarten program assistants, teacher’s assistants, administrative assistants, youth fitness, youth art classes, youth music classes, and teen programs.
Alphabet Soup is an Early Childhood Enrichment Center, providing developmentally appropriate programs to infants and toddlers, ages 6 weeks to 3 years olds and preschool children, ages 3 years to 5 years old. We offer care to families in North Providence and neighboring communities. In addition, we offer financial assistance to eligible families through the Department of Human Services.
We are a private, non-private agency supporting individuals with developmental disabilities. We operate 15 group homes, 8 semi-independent living programs, 6 small businesses and various vocational programs. We offer nursing supports, physical therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, psychological supports, vocational training, and independent living skills to approximately 350-400 adults.
The Boys and Girls Club is a non-profit organization serving youth aged 5-18. We offer a variety of programs from homework assistance to computers to sports fitness and recreation programs.
We provide a safe place where children learn and grow by having age-appropriate activities during out of school hours. We provide character and leadership development, sports, fitness and recreation, education and career development, the arts, and health and life skills. We service children ages 6-18. We also have a preschool and kindergarten program for children ages 3-6 and a summer day and overnight came for ages 6-13 in Charlestown, RI.
A regional school district serving students in PreK through grade 12. Note: a criminal background check is required for all individuals prior to beginning an internship.
CFS is a large multi-service agency whose mission is to strengthen families, their member’s and the community in which they live. Working with individuals of all ages, we provided a wide spectrum of services both in the home or at one of the agency sites. The agency is committed to providing the best possible experience for those who choose to intern with us.
We are one of the 13 Child Care Connection Centers in RI. We service children ages 3-12. Our preschool room is licensed for 15 children and our school age room is licensed for 30 children. We provide before and after school care for grades K-5.
We currently have 17 facilities throughout RI and MA, including in the Warwick and Lincoln CCRI locations. Five of our facilities, Central Falls, Rumford, Warwick, North Attleboro and Seekonk have all day Kindergarten. Our company does on going training throughout the year from infant through school age. The educational departments has Head and Lead teacher meetings on a weekly basis. In addition, we have an on site Director of Education and an Educational Trainer.
The mission of CHILDSPAN is to enhance the professional development of all those individuals serving children birth through age 16 to ensure availability of high-quality care and educational services for RI children, youth, and their families.
The internship in DCYF’s Family Service unit is geared to the student interested in Social Work or Criminal Justice. This placement experience will help the student become familiar with the State of Rhode Island Child Welfare System and the Systems impact on Children, Youth and Families.
The College Crusade was founded in 1989 to reduce the number of children in RI who drop out of high school. Children enroll in the Crusade when they are in the third grade and continue in the program until they graduate from high school. If they are eligible based on family income, they may receive a Crusade scholarship for post-secondary education. The Crusade provides academic, social and personal development and support services to the crusaders throughout their school years.
Comp Services RI provides critical support services over and above those provided in traditional child care settings. This program is modeled after the federal Head Start program and targets low-income "at-risk" children during a critical stage in the learning and developmental process. The Program’s goal is to prepare children for school success, support families and assure that "best practices" are utilized in the childcare community.
Provide advocacy for children who are the victims of abuse and/or neglect and thus involved with DCYF and Family Court. Interact with many agencies in carrying out our role.
Crossroads is the largest provider of services to the homeless in the state. We are a full service agency providing four major services: crisis intervention, health care, housing, and job training.
