Hopefully
by now I’ve told you enough to get you on the right
financial track and avoid the problems some of my
friends dealt with because they didn’t know all the
things you know now. There are other, more complicated
parts of personal finance, but that’s a matter for
another class. For now, just try to apply the things
I’ve said to your own life:
·
Be sure your needs are taken care of
before your wants
·
Use credit cards as a money management
tool, not as a source of extra money
·
Use cash, checks and debit cards as an
alternative to credit cards
·
Consider the impact of each credit
purchase and payment on your credit report/score and how
today’s decisions affect tomorrow’s choices
·
If you’re planning to marry, ask to see
your future partner’s credit report
·
Pay off your credit cards in full every
month
·
Shop around for the best credit card deal
·
Watch for credit crisis warning signs.
Planning makes all the difference,
and now you have the tools to figure out and go after
the things you want from your finances.
