is an educational resource and research center
Mission
To advance the adoption of sound personal financial practices by developing and delivering personal financial education programs and conducting related research.
Vision
For all Rhode Islanders to attain financial well-being as a result of informed decision-making about spending, saving, and investing their money. Ultimately, this will improve personal financial security, promote family stability,
and stimulate growth of the state's economy.
The Center for Personal Financial Education, established in 1996, is a joint venture between the
Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Southern New England and the
University of Rhode Island. In 2002, the Center was designated a University of Rhode Island center and moved to the Kingston campus. The
URI Department of Human Development and Family Studies and
Rhode Island Cooperative Extension are the Center’s sponsors. The Center provides undergraduate and graduate experiential learning opportunities through internships and
assistantships.
