HDF Club

The HDF Club is a student group that supports the professional development of majors in the department of Human Development and Family Studies. The club also provides networking opportunities between students and faculty. It is free to join, and all students who are interested in human development and family studies can participate in club activities. The club meets at 7pm on the first Wednesday of every month in the Memorial Union.

Activities for the 2009-2010 academic year include:

  • peer mentoring and advising
  • stress-relieving games
  • get-to-know-the department games
  • career and internship presentations
  • movie night,
  • and
  • GRE counseling.

Officers and Contact Info

HDF Club officers are elected each year by HDF majors. This year's officers are Lindsay Minichino (President), Cat Gagnon (Vice President), and Katie O'Connor (Secretary). The club's faculty advisor is Dr. Jaime Dice. To contact club officers, email hdfclub@gmail.com.

HDF Club officers serve as liaisons between HDF faculty and students and assist in representing the department at several university events. This year's events include the Undeclared Majors Fair, Meet the University, and the Dean's Advisory Committee for the College of Human Science and Services. Officers also arrange tutors for HDF students through the office of Academic Enhancement, research alumni accomplishments, evaluate department and student needs, and contribute to the Living and Learning Community for the College of Human Science and Services in Butterfield Hall.
