The undergraduate curriculum in Human Development and Family
Studies provides a general background for work with children,
families, adolescents, and adults in a variety of human service and
community settings. The program of study leads to a Bachelor of

The program in Human Development and Family Studies is a
41 credit master's program with a small basic core and wide variety of 400 and 500 level courses that create an option area tailored to the particular interests of the student. Options within the program include early childhood education, child development, adult development/ gerontology, and family studies. Students entering the program are expected to have had a minimum of 18 credits of social sciences in their undergraduate program with at least one course in human/child development and an introductory course in statistics. |

The University of Rhode Island offers a two-year program leading to the Master of Science degree in Human Development and Family Studies with a specialization in Marriage and Family Therapy. This program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education. |

The Master of Science degree program in College Student Personnel (CSP) is offered through the Department of Human Development and Family Studies (HDF). The CSP program, in existence for over 30 years, prepares students for entry-level positions in college and university settings and for careers as advisors, coordinators, directors, and deans at institutions of higher education throughout the country. |
