Client-Directed, Outcome-Informed Practice (CDOI)

Jacqueline Sparks, Ph.D. provides training for Rhode Island agencies working with children and families in the implementation of client-directed, outcome-informed practice (CDOI). She has served as trainer and consultant to Family Service of Rhode Island in the use of brief outcome and alliance measures in a home-based, crisis intervention model with at-risk families. Dr. Sparks teaches agency clinicians and supervisors how to use outcome-informed procedures to facilitate family engagement and enhance overall effectiveness. In addition, she serves as consultant/trainer for Family Care Community Partnership and South County Community Action in the integration of CDOI in wraparound practice with area families. Her work as co-developer and lead investigator of the validation study of the Child Outcome Rating Scale has allowed children in community families to give formal feedback about services they are receiving. Young people, for the first time, have been able to take advantage of a CDOI approach to improve their chances of success in achieving desired therapeutic goals.
