ARE YOU AN OVERWEIGHT WOMEN

AGED 55-80 YEARS?

Do You want to lose weight, have a better diet and be more independent

IDEAL-1 IDEAL-3

Join the University of Rhode Island Dietary Education and Active Lifestyle (UR-IDEAL) Study, a research study in the Departments of Kinesiology and Nutrition and Food Sciences at URI, and the North and South Kingstown Senior Centers designed to look at the effect of weight loss and Tai Chi exercise on physical function and heart disease risk factors.

 

Benefits of participating may include:

  • An individualized nutrition program for gradual weight loss with an emphasis on increasing physical activity that has been previously tested to be effective
  • Supervised participation in a structured Tai Chi exercise program
  • Participation in this study is free and you will receive your results once the study is complete

 

You may be eligible to join if you are:

  • An overweight women between the ages of 55-80 years
  • Not involved in a regular exercise program
  • Within the same weight over the last 4 months (about +/-10 pounds)
  • Willing to attend regular dietary weight loss meetings and Tai Chi sessions at the North or South Kingstown Senior Centers.
