Assistant Professor, Textiles, Fashion Merchandising & Design
This is an academic year, tenure-track position with a preferred starting date of 07/01/08.
Teach primarily undergraduate courses in interior design to complement overall departmental focus. Advise undergraduates and supervise internships. Develop a program of scholarly activity and publish in area of expertise that coordinates with the Department, College, and University goals. Participate in University service and related professional activities.
Qualifications
Earned doctorate or terminal degree in design-related field. Demonstrated knowledge of the material qualities of textiles; history of design; competency in computer-aided design for interiors. Evidence of effective teaching; ability to teach interior design and introductory aesthetics courses; strong classroom and interpersonal communication skills; ability to develop ties with domestic and international business community. Membership in appropriate professional organizations. Preferred: applicants with one or more degrees in textiles and clothing; additional interests in areas such as: merchandising, cultural aspects of design, sustainability, or innovation.
