On-line Catalog

A history of Fashion Plates and 19th century women's periodicals

Welcome to the URI Historic Textile and Costume Collection Online Catalog. This catalog is different from many others in that the text attempts to provide historical context for the artifacts. The catalog entries represent the research work of undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in Textiles, Fashion Merchandising and Design courses. Courses include TMD 240, 340, 440, and 570.

The catalog is an ongoing project. As more artifacts are studied, information will be added to the database.

A small grant from the URI Research Office provided funding for the early stages of the catalog.
