Sook-Hyun Kim

Sook-Hyun Kim has her MS and PhD from Virginia Tech in Clothing and Textiles. She was appointed to the full-time faculty at URI in the Fall of 2004. She teaches TMD 433 (Textile Markets), and TMD 432 (Fashion Merchandising Operations Control)

Before joining URI, Sook-Hyun worked for Central Michigan University and taught Textiles and Apparel in the Global Economy, Fashion Buying, CAD (Adobe Illustrator, U4ia), and Pattern Making. Sook-Hyun also worked for Woolworth Overseas Co. as an international merchandiser, and she organized and inspected exports from planning of manufacturing to shipping.

Her research interests include: Retail evolution (causes and effects), Retail management (problem solving), New retail formats, Internet retailing, Consumer behavior in apparel distribution channel, International trade, and Product development.
