TMD 402N “Sustainability”

Every year the TMD Department focuses on a new theme for the spring seminar. For Spring 2008 the focus is sustainability
The class meets Wednesday afternoons from 4-5:30 p.m. in Quinn Auditorium. Lectures are open to the public.
The course web site is the product of both the instructor and the students. New pages will be added as the course progresses.

Through presentations by invited speakers, the topic of sustainability will be explored as it relates to textiles, apparel, and interior design. The "green" movement has increased in importance recently. Issues to be covered include textile products in landfills, recycling, organic cotton and other sustainable fibers, "green" apparel design, retailers of sustainable fashion products, and preservation of mill buildings for domestic living space. Registrants for two credits are required to complete a research project and present it to the class.
