Leah Joffe’s topic was coupons and discounts. She began with some coupon history by telling us that Coca-Cola distributed the first coupons in 1894. She clued us in on many internet coupon websites. Some of the sites mentioned were shoppersresource.com, quicktoclick.com, and smartsource.com. While there are many advantages to these types of coupons there are also a few disadvantages. Many people have access to these coupons so companies end up losing money. Also, customers are not loyal; people only shop where they can get a deal. Companies do benefit from coupons in the long run because it helps to track customer activities. Leah predicts that in the future coupons will remain important, and that technological advances will help to get coupons out to the public.
