Minor in Textiles, Fashion Merchandising and Design

The TMD Department offers minors, based on the completion of 18 specific course credits. As with the major, there are several different areas of TMD in which you can specialize. Listed below are the recommended courses in each area. You will see that they all begin with TMD 103, our "introduction" course.

Please Note:

  • No more than 6 credits in 100-level courses may count towards a minor.  Twelve credits must be at the 200-level or above.  At least nine credits must be earned at URI.
  • Internships are available in all of the above areas, but are open to non-majors on a space available basis. Three credits of such internships can be applied to the minor.
  • Students must meet all prerequisites for TMD course as specified in the catalog.
  • TMD majors have priority for enrollment in high-demand classes.
