Bio
W. Lynn McKinney began at URI in 1972 as a faculty member in the Department of Education, assuming responsibility as Director of the Curriculum Research and Development Center in 1977. He has directed the Bachelor of General Studies Program, the Program in Human Science and Services, and the Honors Colloquium (twice), and served as the URI co-director of the Ph.D. in Education. He has been Dean of the College of Human Science and Services since 2002.
Deeply engaged in the Rhode Island nonprofit world throughout his URI career, he has served as board member and president of the Rhode Island Coalition Against Domestic Violence, board member and president of Volunteers in Action, and board member and president of AIDS Care Ocean State. He is also the founding director of the Rhode Island Campus Compact. He is currently co-chair of Equity Action, a fund at The Rhode Island Foundation supporting GLBTQ programming.
For many years, he served as a book reviewer for CHOICE Magazine. His primary professional service activity now is program evaluation and accreditation, both domestically and internationally.
