Position Description
TITLE: Assistant Coach, Women's Rowing
DIVISION: Student Development - (Athletics)
REPORTS TO: Head Coach, Women's Rowing
GRADE: Not Applicable
SUPERVISES: Support staff
BASIC FUNCTION:
Perform duties as assigned by the Head Rowing Coach. The first assistant will be responsible for the operation of the Novice Program and will be the recruiting coordinator for all incoming and walk-on student-athletes. Contribute to the overall administration of the Women’s Rowing Program including team travel logistics, transportation, equipment and trailer maintenance, fund raising, alumni relations and daily operations. Assist in the coordination of academic services with the student support services staff.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist in the evaluation and recruitment of prospective student-athletes.
Assist in the training of student-athletes, equipment maintenance, and team travel arrangements.
Assist in alumni relations, marketing and fund-raising projects.
OTHER DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform other duties as required.
LICENSES, TOOLS
AND EQUIPMENT:
NCAA rules certification certificate; CPR and first aid certificates.
ENVIRONMENTAL
CONDITIONS:
This position is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The following are required: bachelor's degree; competitive collegiate rowing experience; a minimum of one year of successful coaching experience in women's rowing at the collegiate club or intercollegiate level; recruiting experience; rigging experience; excellent organizational, administrative and communication skills; computer literacy. Must demonstrate the ability to work well with a team of coaches and foster a positive competitive environment for the student-athletes. Appointment subject to NCAA violation report clearance and the successful completion of the following: NCAA rules certification exam; CPR exam; first aid certification.
