                          Position Description

 

 

TITLE:            Assistant Coach, Women's Volleyball

 

DIVISION:         Student Affairs (Athletics)

 

REPORTS TO:       Head Coach, Women's Volleyball

 

GRADE:            Not applicable

 

SUPERVISES:       Support staff

 

BASIC FUNCTION:

 

Under the direction of the head coach, responsibilities include but are not limited to:  assisting in the evaluation and recruitment of prospective student athletes; training and development of players; scouting; team travel arrangements; scheduling; promotions and marketing; fund-raising projects; and summer camps.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Assist in evaluation and recruitment of prospective student athletes.

 

Assist in the training and development of players; scouting; and team travel arrangements.

 

Assist in scheduling, promotions, marketing, fund-raising projects, and summer camps.

 

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

As assigned by supervisors.

 

LICENSES, TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT:

 

NCAA Rules Certification Certificate; personal computers and printers; word processing, database management and spreadsheet software.

 

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

 

This position is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Bachelor's degree required.  A degree in physical education or related field preferred.  Coaching experience (preferably Division I) and/or collegiate playing experience (preferably Division I) required.  Must have demonstrated effective organizational, communicative and leadership skills.  Experience recruiting student athletes preferred.  Adherence to the University, NCAA, and Atlantic 10 Conference rules and regulations required.  Appointment subject to NCAA violation report clearance.
