Position Description
TITLE: Assistant Coach, Women’s Gymnastics
DIVISION: Student Affairs (Athletics)
REPORTS TO: Head Coach Women’s Gymnastics
GRADE: (Not applicable)
SUPERVISES:
BASIC FUNCTION:
Assist with the organization and administration of the gymnastics program, including, but not limited to: recruiting, practice and coaching, conditioning, public relations and fundraising.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist Head Coach with the on- and off-campus recruitment
of student-athletes within NCAA,
Assist Head Coach in coaching in all areas.
Assist Head Coach in design and implementation of short- and long-term skill acquisition by student-athletes.
Assist Head Coach in planning, supervising and evaluating the conditioning and overall fitness-training program for team and individual student-athletes.
Use technical knowledge of gymnastics skills and drills to assist Head Coach in teaching new, higher-level skills to student-athletes based on their specific abilities and talents.
Use technical knowledge of USAG Code of Points and Collegiate Modifications to assist Head Coach in composing routines, including skill values and bonus skills and connections, for student-athletes to successfully compete at a high level.
Assist Head Coach in monitoring academic progress of student-athletes.
Assist with the fundraising, public relations, office administration and event management in all areas of the gymnastics program.
OTHER DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Comply with all NCAA, University and Atlantic 10 Conference policies and regulations.
Perform other duties as required.
LICENSES, TOOLS
AND EQUIPMENT:
Personal computers, printers and word processing, database management,
and spreadsheet software.
ENVIRONMENTAL
CONDITIONS:
This position is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental
conditions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree required. Two years of successful experience coaching gymnastics at the collegiate level (preferably Division I), USAG Elite or National Level 10 required. The following are also required: excellent organizational, administrative, verbal and written communication skills; spotting skills and proven ability to relate to women athletes. Recruiting experience preferred. USAG Safety Certification preferred. Appointment is subject to NCAA violation report clearance.
