                        Position Description

 

TITLE:            Assistant Coach, Women's Basketball

 

DIVISION:         Student Development (Athletics)

 

REPORTS TO:       Coach, Women's Basketball

 

GRADE:            (Not applicable)

 

SUPERVISES:       (Not applicable)

 

BASIC FUNCTION:

 

Assist with the organization and administration of the basketball program, including the following: recruiting, scouting, practice and game coaching, conditioning and strength training, and public relations.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Assist head coach with the recruiting of Division I athletes.

 

Assist head coach with practice and game coaching and the evaluation of player performance.

 

Assist head coach in scouting opponents and in preparation of game plans.

 

Assist head coach in planning, conducting, and evaluating the strength and conditioning programs for players.

 

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Comply with all NCAA, University and Atlantic 10 Conference policies and regulations.

 

Perform other duties as required.

 

LICENSES, TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT:

 

Personal computers and Microsoft Office products.

 

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

 

This position is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Bachelor's degree required.  A degree in physical education or related field preferred.  Coaching experience (preferably Division I) and/or collegiate playing experience (preferably Division I) required.  Proven ability to relate to women athletes required.  Must have demonstrated effective organizational, communicative and leadership skills.  A certification in strength and conditioning training is preferred.  Adherence to the University, NCAA, and Atlantic 10 Conference rules and regulations required.  Appointment subject to NCAA violation report clearance and NCAA Rules Certificate.
