Coordinator, Dining Services/Operations & Training, PSA/NEA, (107760), Dining Services.   Salary Range:  $39,484-$48,936 (Full time/calendar year rate).  Assist in the training as well as the supervision of University employees and student workers in all facets of retail operations.  Assist in the overall day-to-day operations of retail departments. Required:  Bachelor's degree with specialization in culinary arts, hotel and restaurant management, retail management or food science and nutrition with three or more years of demonstrated successful experience in food service management at the supervisory level in a high-volume setting; or, an associate’s degree in culinary arts, hotel and restaurant management or retail management, plus five or more years of successful experience in food service management at the supervisory level in a high-volume setting; demonstrated experience supervising and training staff; working knowledge of Microsoft office systems; a working knowledge of cost and inventory control methods, as well as cash reconciliation reports; ability to create menus and determine pricing; ability to work under minimal supervision; strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage activities simultaneously; demonstrated self-starter, proven leader and problem solver with analytical skills; valid driver’s license. Marine Research Specialist I, PSA/NEA, (108286), GSO - Sea Grant.   Salary Range:  $31,782-$38,698   (Full time/calendar year rate).  Position is limited to 1/31/09 with extension contingent on funding. Conduct independent research and compose formal communications in support of the Rhode Island Sea Grant College program. Assist in developing a strategic education program for Rhode Island Sea Grant. Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Public Relations/Communications or Science with at least one (1) year of experience in research, outreach and/or public education endeavors required. Must be able to work independently and have the ability to translate complex marine science, and other related disciplines, to the general public and other lay audiences. Must be able to organize, coordinate and supervise student staff and interns. Must be able to give public presentations to both small and large audiences. Must have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively interact with Rhode Island Sea Grant staff, university personnel and other academics from varying institutions, students of all academic levels and the public at large. Must have demonstrated writing ability, be proficient with Microsoft Office software programs, and familiar with Adobe Acrobat Pro. Technician (Ice Rink), PTAA, (106742), Facilities Services. Required: M.S. in plant sciences, botany, horticulture or closely-related field; minimum of two years of hands-on experience in ornamental and/or greenhouse container-plant production or closely-related field; ability to support PI’s with grant proposal writing and research; knowledge of state-of-the-art greenhouse computer systems, and heating, ventilation and irrigation systems; demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, and to organize, coordinate and supervise support staff and students; strong interpersonal skills. Must have or be willing to obtain RI Pesticide Applicator Certification (research and development applicator).
