Bette
LaSere Erickson is the Director of the Instructional Development Program at
the University of
Rhode Island. She
received her B. A. in English from Saint Olaf College
and earned her Ed. D. from the University
of Massachusetts, Amherst. Erickson is an authority on faculty
development and course design and has published articles on faculty development
programs and teaching techniques. She has also conducted numerous workshops and
seminars at colleges and universities throughout the country. She is a founding
member of the Professional and Organizational Development Network (POD) and has
also served as its Executive Director. Her most recent work is Teaching
First-Year College Students (with C. B. Peters and D. W. Strommer, Jossey Bass, 2006).
Heather Johnson is an Instructional Development
Consultant at the
University
of Rhode Island, and a
Lecturer in the Department of Writing and Rhetoric. She received her B.A. in English
from the University of California, Berkeley
and her M.Sc. and Ph.D. in English from the University of Edinburgh.
