Welcome

The faculty and staff of the International Engineering Program at the University of Rhode Island wish to extend both a hearty welcome and thanks to all attending and participating in this meeting

Our gathering attests to the fact that engineering and business are indeed global today, and that new educational curricula must reflect this fact. Our meeting also demonstrates that international engineering is a phenomenon of interest to both the private and public sectors as well as to higher education.

Our time together, therefore, represents a partnership of joint exploration to determine the best paths of preparation for the global leaders of the next century.

The International Engineering Program is a dual-degree program combining a B.A. in German, French and/or Spanish with a B.S. in one of the engineering disciplines.  IEP students study language and culture each semester along with their engineering curriculum. In the fourth year of the five-year program, they then go abroad as interns with engineering based firms in Europe or Latin America, and also as exchange students with one of our partner universities
