Krishna S. Athreya is the Director of Minority and Women's Programs in Engineering at Cornell University and Chair of the Advisory Board for Engineers Without Frontiers USA. Dr. Athreya's undergraduate education was in India and she earned her Ph. D. in condensed matter physics from Iowa State University. In the last decade, she has led several programs and initiatives promoting equity and access to education, numeracy and scientific literacy, targeting underserved populations. She sits on the Board of the international partnership, Gender and Science and Technology (GASAT). She is a proponent of leadership through service.

The International Engineering Program is a dual-degree program combining a B.A. in German, French and/or Spanish with a B.S. in one of the engineering disciplines.  IEP students study language and culture each semester along with their engineering curriculum. In the fourth year of the five-year program, they then go abroad as interns with engineering based firms in Europe or Latin America, and also as exchange students with one of our partner universities
