O'Malley Barton is currently a fourth year student at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Majoring in Civil Engineering, she will earn her BS this December. Last spring, O'Malley completed her Interactive Qualifying Project, IQP, a degree requirement at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in San Juan, Puerto Rico. She and two partners worked with EnergyAnswers Corporation and Conserva El Encanto on a project involving solid waste management in Puerto Rico.

The International Engineering Program is a dual-degree program combining a B.A. in German, French and/or Spanish with a B.S. in one of the engineering disciplines.  IEP students study language and culture each semester along with their engineering curriculum. In the fourth year of the five-year program, they then go abroad as interns with engineering based firms in Europe or Latin America, and also as exchange students with one of our partner universities
