Bauhofer

Dr. Wolfgang Bauhofer is Vice President of the Technische Universität Hamburg-Harburg and President of the Northern Institute of Technology, which offers international technical degrees to students from many countries around the world. Dr. Bauhofer studied at Kiel and Freiburg, and earned his doctorate at the Max-Planck-Institute in Stuttgart. He began his professional career as an engineering manager with Bayer AG in Leverkusen, and then returned as a researcher to the Max-Planck-Institute in Stuttgart. In 1979 and 1983 he was a guest researcher respectively with research centers in the People's Republic of China and the United States. He began his university career in Würzburg and has been a professor at the Technical University of Hamburg-Harburg since 1990. in 1999 he was appointed President of the Northern Institute of Technology.

The International Engineering Program is a dual-degree program combining a B.A. in German, French and/or Spanish with a B.S. in one of the engineering disciplines.  IEP students study language and culture each semester along with their engineering curriculum. In the fourth year of the five-year program, they then go abroad as interns with engineering based firms in Europe or Latin America, and also as exchange students with one of our partner universities
