Eckhard Hommrichhausen is Manager of Product Engineering at BMW Manufacturing Corporation in Spartanburg, South Carolina. His team’s task is the resident engineer function in the production facility. He has been in Spartanburg since 1999.

Mr. Hommrichhausen began his career 1982 at the University of Karlsruhe as employee in a consulting institution for microcomputer for small businesses. 1983 he joined BMW as Development Engineer Brakes. Since 1987 he was responsible for the development of Brake slip control Systems (Driving test ABS). Prior to his current position he was responsible for the Chassis and Engines team in the Analysis Center at BMWMC.

He is member in the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE). He received the Diplom Engineer degree in 1982 in automotive engineering and material science.

The International Engineering Program is a dual-degree program combining a B.A. in German, French and/or Spanish with a B.S. in one of the engineering disciplines.  IEP students study language and culture each semester along with their engineering curriculum. In the fourth year of the five-year program, they then go abroad as interns with engineering based firms in Europe or Latin America, and also as exchange students with one of our partner universities
