Jim McGwin, Collaboration Catalyst Corporation
Jim McGwin, President and CEO of Collaboration Catalyst Corporation, has over 25 years of international industry and consulting experience with an emphasis on execution of innovation in products and processes across organizational and industry boundaries, in support of the all phases of product-life–cycle, from concept to end of life service. During his career, Jim has led several successful value-chain formation and transformation initiatives.

This focus has lead Jim to develop practical measures of collaboration and supporting technology tools including: the IPC metric that compares information, product and cash cycles across supply chains; Hierarchy of Business Needs, based on Maslow’s Hierarchy, balancing value creation with partner behavior and process capability; and recently the Digital Enzyme, a web service/extended Internet Sense and Response tool. He has authored presentations and articles on a range of supply chain, collaborative commerce, optimization, partnering, manufacturing, business and systems topics.

McGwin’s prior experience includes: senior operations roles, including Director of Operations for a medical device company that is now part of Johnson & Johnson, VP of Operations for an eCommerce start-up acquired by IntelliMark, led the New England Supply Chain and International Supply Chain Audit/Assurance practices for KPMG; and the Materials Manager for Brown & Sharpe Mfg.

Throughout his career, Jim has been active in groups such as: a founding member of the Global Collaborative Commerce Initiative; organized the C-Frame Aerospace and Defense a consortium; Congressional Business Advisory Council; organizing member of the Supply Chain the Supply Chain Council (SCOR), where he has taken a lead in initiating international research defining processes for Collaboration and Exception Management in Supply Chains, specifically the SCOR model; the American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS) where he assisted in the development of the certification programs; National Association of Purchasing Managers, as well as philanthropic organizations.

The International Engineering Program is a dual-degree program combining a B.A. in German, French and/or Spanish with a B.S. in one of the engineering disciplines.  IEP students study language and culture each semester along with their engineering curriculum. In the fourth year of the five-year program, they then go abroad as interns with engineering based firms in Europe or Latin America, and also as exchange students with one of our partner universities
