Damon
Rarick is an assistant professor of German at the University of
Rhode Island. His degrees in German and Physics have found
their symbiosis in the IEP, and his research and teaching
interests include applied language instruction, educational
technology, technology and engineering, German language
pedagogy, business and scientific German, and interdisciplinary
manifestations of 20th century German literature.For the past
four years, he has offered a workshop
on Teaching Languages to Engineering Students with Walter von
Reinhart at this colloquium.
Before joining the International Engineering Program faculty
in 1998, Dr. Rarick taught at Brown University, the Brown
Learning Community, the Deutsche Sommerschule am Atlantik, and
Stonehill College and has been a Summer Fellow at the American
Institute for Contemporary Germany Studies (AICGS) in
Washington, DC and at the University of California in Berkeley.
He also has extensive experience with a wide range of computing
platforms, applications, and instructional technologies which he
uses to support the academic missions of the IEP and the
University of Rhode Island.
He is currently president of the Rhode Island chapter of the
American Association of Teachers of German.
