Remo Steinmetz

Since May 2004, Remo Steinmetz is Program Manager for Education and Academic Affairs at the Swiss House for Academic Research and Education SHARE in Cambridge/MA. Remo’s efforts are focused on fostering the links between the universities and the scientific communities of New England and Switzerland.

Previously he served as Director of the Postgraduate Study in Spatial Planning at the Federal Institute of Technology ETH in Zurich, Switzerland. Under his direction, the study became one of the most successful postgraduate programs of ETH. In this role he managed all educational activities of 14 professors and 80 practitioners, who were involved in the two years study program. He led also two large e-learning projects, which focused on the needs of part-time students.

Remo Steinmetz holds a Master in Geography from the University of Zurich. Prior to his employment in academia, he was working in an international planning, consulting and engineering company, where he led projects in the field of transportation and urban planning.

The International Engineering Program is a dual-degree program combining a B.A. in German, French and/or Spanish with a B.S. in one of the engineering disciplines.  IEP students study language and culture each semester along with their engineering curriculum. In the fourth year of the five-year program, they then go abroad as interns with engineering based firms in Europe or Latin America, and also as exchange students with one of our partner universities
