Robert A. Weygand, University of Rhode Island
Bob Weygand is Vice President for Administration at the University of Rhode Island, Kingston, Rhode Island. As vice president, he has an important leadership role, serving as the University's senior operating officer, supporting the president on all matters related to the administration of the University and represents the University regarding finance and administration to internal and external stakeholders. URI operates four campuses throughout Rhode Island and has an annual operating budget of $420 million.

Prior to his position at URI, Weygand was the President and CEO of the New England Board of Higher Education. NEBHE is the administrator of the New England Higher Education Compact, authorized by Congress in 1954 and formally established in 1955 by the six New England states to provide greater educational opportunities and services for the students of New England.

Weygand is a former United States Congressman and Lieutenant Governor from Rhode Island. He represented Rhode Island's Second District in Congress for two terms from 1997 to 2001 where he served on the House Budget Committee and the House Banking and Financial Services Committee. From 1993 to 1997, Weygand was Rhode Island's Lieutenant Governor and prior to that, served four terms, 1985 to 1993, as a state representative.

A landscape architect by training and former owner of an architectural firm, Weygand is a Fellow of the American Society of Landscape Architects, the national chair of the Council of Fellows (2004and 2005) and an Adjunct Associate Professor in Landscape Architecture at the University of Rhode Island. He earned two degrees from URI, and is a Trustee of the URI Foundation. He is the recipient of numerous public service awards and is on several non-profit boards including Big Brothers of Rhode Island, Rhode Island Mentoring Partnership, South County Hospital Endowment Board and Homefront Healthcare. He frequently lectures at colleges and universities.

The International Engineering Program is a dual-degree program combining a B.A. in German, French and/or Spanish with a B.S. in one of the engineering disciplines.  IEP students study language and culture each semester along with their engineering curriculum. In the fourth year of the five-year program, they then go abroad as interns with engineering based firms in Europe or Latin America, and also as exchange students with one of our partner universities
