Ben DeWinter, Boston UniversityDr. Urbain (Ben) J. DeWinter is Associate Provost for International Programs and Professor of Modern Foreign Languages and Literature at Boston University. He has been a faculty member and administrator at various institutions, including the University of Pennsylvania and Cornell University. Working closely with faculty, staff and students, he has developed international programs, exchanges and partnerships worldwide and has chaired or participated in many external reviews of education abroad programs. He chaired the New York State Task Force on International Education (1996-97), focusing on education abroad, and served on the executive committee of several international associations. Dr. DeWinter completed an AB degree in History at Georgetown University (with studies at the University of Fribourg, Switzerland) and a Ph.D. in Romance Languages and Literatures at the University of Pennsylvania.

The International Engineering Program is a dual-degree program combining a B.A. in German, French and/or Spanish with a B.S. in one of the engineering disciplines.  IEP students study language and culture each semester along with their engineering curriculum. In the fourth year of the five-year program, they then go abroad as interns with engineering based firms in Europe or Latin America, and also as exchange students with one of our partner universities
