Eric first began studying at the University of Rhode Island in 1998, where he studied Mechanical Engineering and German as part of the undergraduate level International Engineering Program. After studying in Germany and after several internships with BMW in both the US and in Germany, he decided to continue his International Education towards a Masters Degree and a German Diplom. He was the first American student to take part in and will be the first to graduate from such a Graduate Level program. He is currently completing his Thesis in the Advanced Development of Longitudinal Dynamics department of BMW at their Research and Design headquarters in Munich, Germany.

The International Engineering Program is a dual-degree program combining a B.A. in German, French and/or Spanish with a B.S. in one of the engineering disciplines.  IEP students study language and culture each semester along with their engineering curriculum. In the fourth year of the five-year program, they then go abroad as interns with engineering based firms in Europe or Latin America, and also as exchange students with one of our partner universities
