Samuel Scheibler, Milwaukee School of EngineeringDr. Samuel Scheibler has degrees in cultural anthropology and church history as well as theology and intercultural communications. He has published books and articles in several languages on topics ranging from German folk customs to international business ethics. He has delivered hundreds of lectures on cultural, social, ethical and religious topics in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. In 1981 the Church of England hired him to serve on the staff of the Archbishop of Canterbury as a cultural consultant and speechwriter. In 1996 the Patriarch of Jerusalem referred to him as a living memorialto the cause of peace and justice. Dr. Scheibler has served as a cultural consultant for several international and national organizations and corporations such as the United Nations, the World Trade Organization, the Walt Disney Company and the International Olympic Committee. He has served in same capacity in work for the United States Government, a number state governments, and eight foreign nations. Before relocating to Wisconsin Dr. Scheibler was honored by the State of California for outstanding contributions to intercultural understanding and cooperation. He speaks seven languages. He has taught in the university classroom for 27 years. He was recently appointed to the Pieper Family Endowed Chair in Servant-Leadership and Distinguished Lecturer in General Studies at Milwaukee School of Engineering.

The International Engineering Program is a dual-degree program combining a B.A. in German, French and/or Spanish with a B.S. in one of the engineering disciplines.  IEP students study language and culture each semester along with their engineering curriculum. In the fourth year of the five-year program, they then go abroad as interns with engineering based firms in Europe or Latin America, and also as exchange students with one of our partner universities
