Lee Blank

Leland Blank, PhD, PE, is Dean Emeritus of Engineering at the American University of Sharjah (AUS), United Arab Emirates, and Professor Emeritus of Industrial Engineering at Texas A&M University. While serving at AUS from 2001-05, all undergraduate and graduate programs were accredited by UAE and US agencies, including full ABET accreditation.

He is a Past President and Fellow of the Institute. He has served higher education internationally in the UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Australia, Hungary, China and Japan.

During his career, Dr. Blank also worked at the University of Texas-El Paso, Southwestern Bell Telephone, GTE Data Services, and San Antonio Public Service. Lee has authored eight engineering textbooks for McGraw-Hill on the subjects of engineering economy and statistics. His latest textbook is set for publication in September of this year.

His primary areas of interest are international higher education, engineering economics, and strategic planning.

The International Engineering Program is a dual-degree program combining a B.A. in German, French and/or Spanish with a B.S. in one of the engineering disciplines.  IEP students study language and culture each semester along with their engineering curriculum. In the fourth year of the five-year program, they then go abroad as interns with engineering based firms in Europe or Latin America, and also as exchange students with one of our partner universities
