CALL FOR PROPOSALS
The Steering Committee for the Eleventh Annual Colloquium on International Engineering Education invites proposals pertinent to the issues of globalizing engineering education, in the form of:
- Workshop Proposals, for either a two-hour or four-hour pre- or post-conference workshop on an engaging topic for Thursday afternoon, November 6, or Sunday morning, November 9.
- Contributed Papers, which may be integrated into the program as a panel contribution in one of four Plenary Sessions, each of which is focused on the conference theme of Building Strategic Partnerships for Global Education. The four sessions are:
- Partnerships with Industry
- Partnerships with Universities Abroad
- Partnerships with Government
- Partnerships within University Walls
- Poster Presentations: Within the context of the Grand Information Fair, scheduled for Friday afternoon, November 7, conference participants will not only have the opportunity to display information about their programs at a reserved table, as in the past, but also to make use of a poster session venue for mini-presentations about conference-related projects or activities. Both faculty and students are invited to contribute to the Poster Session.
- Working Sessions: Saturday morning, November 8, will be devoted to “working sessions,” at which conferees will engage in guided discussion with experts on a topic related to the conference mission. Each session will run twice to enable conferees maximum exposure to the topics.
The 2008 Working Sessions will be designed to focus on building partnerships on behalf of our students in six world regions: the European Union, China, India, Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa. We seek expert presenter/facilitators to help participants identify and answer key questions for international programming in these world areas: What are the cutting-edge models? What are the issues? What are the hurdles? What are the challenges and opportunities? What resources are available? How do we access the best information?
Proposals for such sessions, which are to include a “start-off presentation” by the facilitator(s) are welcomed.
We are particularly interested in proposals related to the conference theme: Building Strategic Partnerships for Global Education. Submit papers or proposals in the form of a one-page abstract, preferably electronically, by May 15 to:
