Patti Urbina
 

Patti Urbina

Patti Urbina is Director of the Qatar Support Office (QSO) in international Programs at Texas A&M University’s main campus. Based in College Station, Texas, the QSO serves as an operational liaison to the branch campus in Doha, Qatar, which has more than 200 faculty, staff, research personnel and administrators. Texas A&M University at Qatar has a fall enrollment of 360 undergraduate students and offers bachelor’s degrees in the fields of chemical, electrical, mechanical and petroleum engineering.

Ms. Urbina received her Master’s degree in History with an emphasis in international relations. In her twenty years with Texas A&M she has served in administrative posts within the Office of the Vice President for Research, the College of Engineering and the Petroleum Engineering’s Global Petroleum Research Institute. She is an alumna of the Study Abroad in Spain program and has traveled extensively for personal and professional interests. She is bilingual in English/Spanish and has taught History at the community college level and Spanish in secondary education. She is in the final year of her Ph.D. program in Human Resources Development.

Her primary areas of interest are international human resources, leadership training and diversity in higher education.

The International Engineering Program is a dual-degree program combining a B.A. in German, French and/or Spanish with a B.S. in one of the engineering disciplines.  IEP students study language and culture each semester along with their engineering curriculum. In the fourth year of the five-year program, they then go abroad as interns with engineering based firms in Europe or Latin America, and also as exchange students with one of our partner universities
