Her background includes extensive global experience in strategic/product marketing and product development with companies such as Pentair ($8B - NYSE), CBT Technology, Analog Devices, Chesebrough Ponds, and Texas Instruments. Laurie has a BSEE and MSEE from the University of Rhode Island, and holds numerous design patents for medical electronics and robotics.
Laurie has worked closely with the IEP for a number of years and employed several IEP Alums including Dan Leonard, Robert Zeuge, Krystal Muise, and Neil Petrarca, as well as numerous interns both in the U.S. and abroad.
Laurie says that she supports the IEP because: "URI's International Engineering Program provides students with the academic, cultural, and business background they need for success in today's global economy. Engineers of the future will be faced with communication and cultural challenges as they engage with their counterparts throughout the world—via the 'virtual workspace.' Learning how to work together and solve problems in this environment is critical. URI's program is world-class and does an excellent job in setting a foundation by combining language requirements with an engineering degree, study abroad, and an international internship. A demanding program—but one which yields results! It's been very exciting to be part of the board and the ongoing development of the IEP."
