Q9:  How can I afford an extra year?

There is no tuition charge for the one-semester professional internship spent abroad, for which you will be paid. Thus, your extra tuition will only be for one semester. If you qualify for a URI Centennial Scholarship, it will apply for the full five years, as long as you maintain a 3.0 GPA. Given the fact that IEP students generally command higher salaries, the modest additional tuition cost is a sound investment!

The International Engineering Program is a dual-degree program combining a B.A. in German, French and/or Spanish with a B.S. in one of the engineering disciplines.  IEP students study language and culture each semester along with their engineering curriculum. In the fourth year of the five-year program, they then go abroad as interns with engineering based firms in Europe or Latin America, and also as exchange students with one of our partner universities
