Erin Papa is currently Program Coordinator for the International Engineering Program. Erin is a graduate of the IEP, having earned her B.S. degree in Civil Engineering and a B.A. in German in 2001. She studied abroad at the Technische Universität Braunschweig during the winter semester in 1999-2000 and followed that semester with an internship in the environmental protection and safety department of Beiersdorf AG in Hamburg, Germany. After working as an engineer for some time at the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management, Erin decided to devote herself to the field of international education.

Erin has taught English as a Second Language in public schools in Melbourne, Australia and at Zhejiang University City College (affiliated with the IEP’s newest partner Zhejiang University) in Hangzhou, China. While in Hangzhou, Erin also studied Mandarin at Zhejiang University and co-coordinated the first IEP Study Tour to China in summer 2006. She earned her Master of Arts in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) from Rhode Island College in 2005.

The International Engineering Program is a dual-degree program combining a B.A. in German, French and/or Spanish with a B.S. in one of the engineering disciplines.  IEP students study language and culture each semester along with their engineering curriculum. In the fourth year of the five-year program, they then go abroad as interns with engineering based firms in Europe or Latin America, and also as exchange students with one of our partner universities
