Q2:  Why was the IEP created?

Begun fifteen years ago, the IEP was designed to meet the needs of business and industry in the rapidly evolving global workplace. To keep America competitive in a global market, we must have young leaders in business and technology who can communicate effectively and cross-culturally with their peers in other societies.

The International Engineering Program is a dual-degree program combining a B.A. in German, French and/or Spanish with a B.S. in one of the engineering disciplines.  IEP students study language and culture each semester along with their engineering curriculum. In the fourth year of the five-year program, they then go abroad as interns with engineering based firms in Europe or Latin America, and also as exchange students with one of our partner universities
