But doesn’t the whole world speak English?
Though English has become a common language for multinational meetings,
this does not mean that Americans don’t need to have other languages and
international expertise. Indeed, Americans are often handicapped by their
inabilities and insensitivities regarding other languages and cultures. If
we are to remain competitive as a nation, we need to be able to communicate
accurately with our partners and competitors abroad.
